Title: Laser nanofabrication based on optical super-resolution techniques and its applications

Abstract: An emerging optical two-beam lithography technique inspired by optical super-resolution nanoscopy is demonstrated for realizing laser nanofabrication technique. A super-resolved 3D feature as small as sub 50 nm in deep sub-wavelength scale can be achieved.

Abstract: Mask-free formation of patterned active materials on elastomers without involving complicate processes is a grand challenge in developing E-skins. Here, a laser direct writing technique is developed to fabricate SiC-based strain sensor arrays for E-skins.

Title: Combination of optical trapping and Raman spectroscopy for the characterization of nano- and micro-sized particles in aqueous and air environment

Abstract: Light-absorbing particles and smut biological cells suspended in air can be optically pulled over a meter-long distance using a single collimated laser beam based on negative photophoretic force and they are characterized with micro-Raman spectroscopy.

Title: Buildup dynamics of mode-locked lasers

Abstract: We demonstrate the first observations of the entire buildup process of solitons and soliton molecules in mode-locked lasers, revealing their possible pathways. We report the real-time observation from Q-switching to mode-locking transition stage.

Title: Laser-resonance metal organic chemical vapor deposition of gallium nitride

Abstract: Due to its unique properties, gallium nitride is of great interest in industry applications and scientific research. The processes of conventional methods for gallium nitride deposition, which rely on thermal heating, are inefficient energy coupling routes to drive gas reactions. A high deposition temperature (800-1100 °C) is generally required to overcome the energy barriers to precursor adsorption and surface adatom migration. As an intensive, coherent and monochromatic light, laser is an ideal candidate for exploring alternative energy coupling pathways. The laser techniques offer processing advantages that are not available with conventional deposition methods.

Title: Thermal Effect Limitation and Further Power Scaling in High Power Fiber Lasers

Abstract: Thermal effects such as modal-beating-induced thermal grating are the main limitations for further power scaling in high power fiber lasers. In this work, the optimization efforts leading to good further power scaling ability are shown.

Title: Frequency down-conversion of 1 μm laser radiation to the mid-IR using non-oxide nonlinear crystals in cascaded intracavity configurations

Abstract: An optical parametric oscillator (OPO) based on AgGaSe2 (AGSe) and difference-frequency generation (DFG) in AGSe and BaGa4Se7 are studied inside the cavity of an oxide-based OPO to generate widely-tunable mid-IR radiation in the 5.8-18-micron range.

Title: Laser processing of energy storage materials for pushing lithium-ion battery performances beyond state-of-the-art

Abstract: Laser technologies so far introduced in battery manufacturing have no impact on performances. In this work, laser structuring of electrode materials was studied for substantial improvement of lithium-ion battery lifetime, high-rate capability, and energy density.

Title: Probing ultrafast nanoscale structural and magnetic dynamics with femtosecond electron pulses

Abstract: Time-resolved transmission electron microscopy allows for the spatio-temporal mapping of ultrafast nanoscale dynamics. Here, we summarize our current developments in ultrafast electron imaging and provide examples on the imaging of ultrafast strain and spin dynamics.

Title: Growth and characterization of laser assisted combustion CVD diamond films

Abstract: Polycrystalline diamond films have been grown through laser-assisted combustion synthesis and their thermal conductivity and thermal boundary resistance have been measured. The study enlightens the key influence of the deposition process on the thermal properties.

Title: Femtosecond laser nanofabrication for functional devices

Title: Ultrafast laser micro-nano structured superhydrophobic-superhydrophilic network for efficient water collection

Abstract: A novel superhydrophilic-superhydrophobic venation network, fabricated by ultrafast lasers, manifests a significant high efficiency in collecting and centralizing the condensed water by self-driven on entire covered surface, 6.4 times higher than the conventional superhydrophobic surfaces.
