Abstract: In this paper, some latest methods of dynamic measurement based on fast BOTDA are summarized and analyzed, including polarization compensation technique, frequency-agile technique, slope-assisted method, optical chirp chain technique, optical frequency comb technique.

Title: Diced ridge waveguides in MgO: PPLN for applications in quantum technology space applications of cold atoms

Abstract: Periodically Poled Lithium Niobate (PPLN) enables off-the-shelf lasers to be converted to specific wavelengths for light-matter interactions in atom/ion traps. We introduce a rugged Zn-indifused MgO:PPLN diced ridge waveguide format enabling Watt-level 780nm SHG at 70% conversion efficiency for use in quantum systems.

Abstract: A short introduction for the mode-locking and a brief review of recent work on high power femtosecond fiber laser are demonstrated, which shows that few cycle laser pulse can be obtained by optimization of nonlinear process in fiber laser system.

Title: Linear and nonlinear epsilon near zero materials - what is so special about them?

Abstract: In this talk I describe the linear and nonlinear optical properties of the “epsilon-near-zero” materials using example of transparent conductive materials like ITO. I show that most of “unusual” properties of these materials can be related to slow group velocity and then I identify the conduction band nonparabolicity as the dominant cause of nonlinearity in them

Title: Preparation and application of Yb:YAG crystal derived silica fibers

Abstract: Yb: YAG-derived silica fiber (YDSF) was fabricated by using molten-core method. Through this fiber, a single-frequency 1064 nm laser was realized. The output power was 110 mW with a linewidth of 93 kHz.

Title: Optical fiber sensors based on vortex or vector modes

Abstract: Vortex beams and vector beams have helical phase front and non-uniform polarization state, respectively. Vortex fiber with a ring core can guide the vortex and vector modes stably. Based on the vortex or vector modes, we have investigated the sensing properties of the vortex fiber for magnetic field and strain.

Abstract: We demonstrated 20-W-level mid-infrared supercontinuum laser source, ultrabroadband supercontinuum generation from 600 to 5400 nm, and broadband amplification in newly-developed all-solid fluorotellurite fibers.

Abstract: Ultra-sensitive DAS with record high sensitivity of 18.2 pε/√Hz@15Hz was developed and >30 field trials were carried out for oil/gas exploration, which would lead to the biggest application of optical fiber sensors in the future.

Title: Smart sensing system based on optical fiber interferometer with signal processing

Abstract: Apart from the communication system, few-mode fiber (FMF) and multi-core fiber (MCF) were also proposed as potential candidates in optical fiber sensor communities. Various optical fiber interferometer based on these optical fibers have been demonstrated for measurement on many parameters with desirable performance. In our work, FMF and MCF were investigated for traditional mechanical parameters measurement and novel biomedical signals characterization with signal processing.
